The Nursing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council invites nurses, students, and all health care workers to discuss health disparities and steps we can take to overcome them. The Health Gap, by Michael Marmot forcefully argues that reducing health inequity is not some impossible goal, but rather there are actions we can take as a society to help the most disadvantaged live longer and healthier lives.

In this session, we will discuss case scenarios from around the world and identify strategies for breaking down health barriers for UNC Hospitals patients and families. Copies of the book are available to be checked out from NPPD, 4th floor Old Infirmary building. The reading is recommended but not required to participate. The discussion will award 1.5 CEUs for attendees.
