PTO Leave Sell Back Program May 1 – May 30
UNC Medical Center will offer Paid Time Off (PTO) sell-back election periods quarterly to employees. To be eligible for the sell-back options, employees must have at least 88 hours of PTO available.
Temporary Visitor Restrictions in the NCCC, PICU, 5 Children's and BMTU Lifted May 20
Due to a decrease in the number of RSV cases, visitor restrictions for the Newborn Critical Care Center, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 5 Children’s/Intermediate Care Unit and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at UNC Hospitals ended on Monday May 20.

Last Call for Uniforms: Front Facing Staff Uniforms Orders due by May 31
For any existing staff that did not order uniforms by May 3 or any new of transfer staff that started after May 4th must place an online order by May 31. Shirts are available to be tried on at Scrubs and Beyond’s retail location near Southpoint in Durham. Colorectal ERAS Clinical Pathway Now Available in Epic@UNC
On May 21, UNC Health Care launched its first Epic@UNC Clinical Pathway to support the growing Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) program. UNC Medical Center and UNC REX are early adopters of ERAS, which provides surgical patients with better patient outcomes and shorter hospital stays. Other leading hospital systems have used Epic’s Clinical Pathway functionality to improve patient outcomes and reduce unnecessary care variation.
Shared Service Distribution Center Celebrates 99% Fill Rate
On May 14, the staff of the Distribution Center at the Shared Service Center (SSC) near Morrisville celebrated a 99% fill rate achievement by enjoying breakfast and lunch for the three shifts that support these operations. The fill rate measures the ability of the SSC to meet its customers’ orders or demand, and health care industry fill rates of 97% are considered among the best.
The UNC Program for Precision Medicine in Health Care Requests Grant Applications

2019 Medical Staff Survey Now Available
On May 20, medical staff members received a link to participate in the 2019 Medical Staff Survey in an email from "Survey Solutions" (surveys@advisory.com). This link is unique and should not be forwarded. The survey itself should take 5-10 minutes to complete. Please encourage the providers in your area to take a moment to complete the survey.
Overlook Cafe, ACC Courtyard Cafe closed for Memorial Day Holiday
The Overlook Cafe and the ACC Courtyard Cafe will be closed Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday. The Corner Cafe (6 a.m. - 2 p.m.), Starbucks (24/7), and Terrace Cafe (6:30 a.m. - 9 p.m.) will all be open normal operating hours on Memorial Day, though the Terrace Cafe will be serving a limited menu.
Memorial Day Transportation & Parking Updates
Chapel Hill Transit will not operate and the University will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observation of Memorial Day. All Park & Ride permit holders and GoPass users will be may park in the S11 parking lots during this time period. On-campus parking permit holders should park in their assigned zones. UNC Hospitals shuttles will operate on a normal schedule. As always, the Dogwood deck will be reserved for patients/visitors.
