Modern Authentication Enabled in Outlook Feb. 19

Modern authentication will be enabled for Microsoft Outlook on Feb. 19. This functionality makes Outlook more secure and makes Single Sign-On possible for Outlook when logging in to the UNC Health Care local network.

What does this change mean?

  • After Modern Authentication has been enabled on Feb. 19, some users may experience slight differences or additional prompts when initially setting up your email account or opening the Microsoft Outlook client. This guide will assist you in moving forward and opening your mail client.
  • If you are attempting to use Microsoft Outlook from outside the organization, you will be prompted with MyAccess Sign-On and MyAccess 2-Step Authentication (DUO). School of Medicine locations will not be prompted for MyAccess 2-Step Authentication (DUO).
  • If you have questions or issues, contact the ISD Service Desk at 984-974-4357.
