Inpatient Providers: Medication Interactions Link now available within Order Sidebar

An “Interactions” link is now present at the top of the provider's "Manage Orders" sidebar. This link changes color and becomes active when a medication is ordered, and when clicked, displays the list of medication interactions prior to signing the order. This link will provide information on dosing, drug-drug, drug-allergy, drug-food and other patient safety related interactions. View details in this Tip Sheet.

GRAChIE, DaVita Dialysis data now available in Epic@UNC via Care Everywhere

​Epic@UNC is now connected to the Georgia Regional Academic Community Health Information Exchange (GRAChIE)​ and the DaVita Health Information Exchange through the eHealthExchange, which means that this means that UNC Health Care providers can access clinical documentation from GRAChIE and DaVita patients in Epic@UNC directly in a patient’s chart.​

Providers: New BPA when selecting Kwashiokor as a diagnosis

​Kwashiorkor is severe form of malnutrition that is most common in developing regions of the world and should rarely be used as a diagnosis/problem list. A new BPA was developed to warn providers to verify that they are selecting a diagnosis that is rarely seen in patients in the US and to consider another diagnosis that is more suited for the patients they are treating. Medication/Order reconciliation is required for Admission, Discharge, Transfer of level of care, and after procedures in the OR, Endo and Cath/EP labs when the patient is being moved to any inpatient nursing unit. Providers: Save time using one-click access to Controlled Substances Reporting System (CSRS)

Providers can now check the prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) with one-click in Epic@UNC. In the first week of use, more than 340 providers accessed more than 1,350 PDMP reports using this new functionality. When placing an Admission Order (ADT 1/ADT13) or Non-Admission Orders ADT14 (Update Patient Status) and ADT24 (Transfer Patient within L&D), a co-signature is required. Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 6, users will be prevented from selecting the 'Per Protocol; No Cosign Required' order mode and will be prompted to select an appropriate order mode. To help provide more coordinated care for our patients (and patients at other hospitals using Epic), the Care Everywhere ID (CEID) now displays on the inpatient Face Sheet. Once the Face Sheet is opened, the CEID is listed under the “Admission” section. If a patient has opted-out of Care Everywhere, a message indicating this will be displayed.
