Dr. Murphy is Head of the Cardiac Physiology Section in the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health, and will present her talk on "Novel Mechanisms of Cardioprotection."

This talk will focus on the basic tenants of abdominal wall reconstruction and the importance of collaborative learning and its application in surgery. In addition, discussion will include common barriers/obstacles to collaborative learning in a surgical environment, as well as the importance of collaborative learning to improving surgical outcomes with real world examples in hernia surgery.

There will be a free drop-in photography session for UNC School of Medicine faculty members and UNC Health Care advanced practice providers (AuDs, CRNAs, CNMs, CNSs, CPPs, LCSWs, NPs, OTs, PTs, PAs and SLPs) only in February. Non-faculty advanced practice providers must provide direct, clinical patient care in the outpatient setting in order to be photographed.
