Please join the UNC Cancer Network for an online telehealth lecture with Lisa Carey, MD. Dr. Carey will discuss the anatomic and genomic variables that impact on (neo)adjuvant decision-making in breast cancer and the current treatment algorithms that allow rational escalation and de-escalation of systemic therapy. Medical and Surgical Oncology lectures offer FREE CNE, ASRT, and CME continuing education credit (upon approval) for eligible participants. We invite anyone interested to view our lectures. Lectures are viewable online via Zoom Webinar or by participating in the lecture at one of our designated viewing sites. Methodologic Limitations of Prescription Opioid Safety Research: A Case of Integrated Data Systems and Modern Epidemiology Jun 04, 2018 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM Brinkhous-Bullitt 219,
In a review of 27 opioid safety studies cited in the CDC’s opioid prescribing guidelines for chronic non-cancer pain, the majority of the studies had limitations pertaining to internal and external validity. The CDC also acknowledges that the opioid safety evidence base is weak (grade 3 and 4). This presentation will highlight these limitations in the literature, their impact on the guidelines, and how integrated data systems and advanced analytic methods may help us navigate some of these issues.
