Dear colleagues:

I am humbled and honored to write to you today as the new president of UNC Hospitals. In my 17 years with UNC Health Care, I have served in a variety of administrative roles and it is truly the highlight of my career to lead our academic medical center as we take on a number of external challenges and opportunities to grow and clinically integrate across the Triangle region.

To share a little bit about myself with you, after receiving my bachelor’s degree in nursing from Villanova University, I began my career as an intensive care unit nurse at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where I also obtained my masters degree in nursing. I spent the next several years as a nurse practitioner at the University of Wisconsin Medical Center before returning to school one last time to earn an MBA from Case Western Reserve University. I joined UNC Hospitals in the summer of 2002 and have worked in an administrative capacity since then.

My husband, Eldad, is a physician and a member of our faculty. We have two sons who are both currently students at Penn State University.

I will spend time over the coming months attending meetings, rounding and trying to meet as many of you as possible. Even though I’ve served in our organization for a while, I want to listen and learn from all of you as we work together to fulfill our mission of service to the people of North Carolina.

If you have thoughts or ideas for me, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to serving alongside you.

Janet
