The UNC Family Medicine Center recently received recertification as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home from the National Committee for Quality Assurance. In a medical home, care is coordinated across all elements of the patient’s community, including the health care system, and is facilitated by health information technology, to ensure patients get care when and where they want it.

"Our patients are getting the highest quality primary care available in the nation," says Dr. Warren Newton, Chair of the Department of Family Medicine.  "The patient-centered medical home (PCMH) is a unique approach that helps us provide comprehensive primary care for children, youth and adults in a setting that facilitates partnerships between the patients, their personal clinicians, and, when appropriate, the patient’s family."
