Chapel Hill, N.C. -- Dr. William L. Roper, MD, MPH, CEO of UNC Health Care and Dean of the UNC School of Medicine, has appointed Glenn George as Chief of Staff for the UNC Health Care System and the UNC School of Medicine effective Monday, Sept. 17. In addition to her new role as Chief of Staff, Glenn will continue to serve as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the UNC Health Care System.

George replaces Kevin FitzGerald, UNC Health Care's and School of Medicine's previous Chief of Staff, who was appointed as UNC System Chief of Staff by President Thomas Ross earlier this month.

George began her role as General Counsel for UNC Health Care in December 2011. Since then she has been instrumental in our negotiations and ultimate settlement with WakeMed and has also contributed greatly to our efforts regarding mental health in Wake County.

Prior to joining us at UNC Health Care, she worked at the University of Arizona, where she served as the Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel and Professor of Law. Glenn received her BA from UNC-Chapel Hill and her JD from Harvard. She is recognized as a broad-based legal counselor well-steeped in the range of legal issues that face a public university.
