"We call it the house, but really its a home," says Executive Director Janice McAdams. "A home for people who are looking for support, care, friendship, comfort, and just people to listen to them because they are scared." As we reflect on the stories we have covered in 2013, we couldn't agree more.

From the Outer Banks to the Blue Ridge Mountains and everywhere in between, we've met some of the finest people in the state. Strangers who have become united as they fight to overcome serious illness. Whether you come alone or with your own family, you will leave with lifelong allies from the Family House.

Once again, it's been a sincere privilege to help share these stories. Happy Holidays!
