Becker's Hospital Review has published the 2013 edition of its list, "300 Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know," which recognizes health care leaders from hospitals and health systems across the country.

Two members of UNC Health Care's leadership team are included on the list:  UNC Health Care CEO William L. Roper, MD, MPH, and Rex Healthcare President David Strong. Congratulations to them both!

Dr. Roper, In addition to serving as CEO of UNC Health Care System, is also dean of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is also a professor of pediatrics at the School of Medicine and a professor of health policy and administration in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

David Strong became president of Rex Healthcare in September 2004. He also serves as chief operating officer of UNC Health Care for system affiliations, providing for all community hospitals and regional care sites within the system.

Leaders featured on this list, which include CEOs, CFOs, CMOs, COO, CIOs and CNOs, have shown dedication to health care delivery at local, regional and national levels. Some have held their positions for a few months, while others have been at the helm for more than 20 years — but each has demonstrated great commitment to improving healthcare in America.

The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team included hospital and health system leaders on this list based on a number of factors, including recognition they have received and their organization's recent performance. The editorial team also reviewed leaders' inclusion on previous Becker's Hospital Review lists and recent executive moves to create this list.
