At its 74th Scientific Sessions in June 2014, the American Diabetes Association released a new position statement focused solely on the comprehensive care of people with type 1 diabetes. In addition to lowering the Association’s target recommendation for blood glucose levels in children with type 1, the statement also emphasized that type 1 and type 2 diabetes are very different diseases that are treated and managed differently.

What does all this mean for people affected by type 1? Join the ADA and UNC Health Care for an hour-long Twitter chat to learn more about type 1 and the latest care recommendations.

Participating in the chat will be two diabetes experts and co-authors of the position statement: Jane L. Chiang, MD, the Association’s Senior Vice President, Medical and Community Affairs, and M. Sue Kirkman, MD, professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.
