This week, WRAL produced a health segment focused on the importance of getting screened for type-2 diabetes. About 30 million people in the United States have been diagnosed with the disease. Millions more have the disease but don't know it and about 86 million more live in a pre-diabetic state; they don't know they are on the verge of getting the disease because they don't know the risk factors or ignore them. But as John Buse, MD, PhD, said, "diabetes can eat you alive." Watch the Segment.
