UNC Health Care CEO William L. Roper, MD, MPH, is included in the 2015 edition of "130 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know," which is published by Becker's Hospital Review and features some of the most impressive presidents and CEOs in health care's nonprofit sector.

“Bill is continually recognized as a key health care leader, and we’re fortunate to have his leadership, wisdom and vision during this time of incredible change,” said Timothy Burnett, chairman of the UNC Health Care Board of Directors. “Our entire state is better off because of Bill’s commitment to improving health care for all North Carolinians.”

Dr. Roper, in addition to serving as CEO of UNC Health Care System, is also dean of the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and vice chancellor for medical affairs at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is also a professor of pediatrics at the School of Medicine and a professor of health policy and administration in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

According to Becker's, "The men and women on this list lead some of the largest, most successful and prominent nonprofit healthcare organizations in the country. They have overseen financial turnarounds, shown commitment to their community through memberships and governance involvement with various organizations, and helped advance the healthcare industry as a whole through their advocacy and professional efforts."

In August, Dr. Roper was ranked No. 14 on Modern Healthcare's annual list of the "100 Most Influential People in Health Care" for 2015.

Becker's Hospital Review has published a version of this list every year since 2012, and this is the third time the list has included 130 leaders. Leaders were selected for this list based on editorial judgment and discretion. Nominations were also considered when making selections for this list.
