UNC researchers ‘unravel’ Zika virus (watch video)

Researchers discuss Zika virus, transmission, and protection during Tuesday's UNC School of Medicine expert panel and community discussion.

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Three of the more than 10 groups of researchers at the UNC School of Medicine served as panelists during Tuesday night’s ‘Unraveling Zika’ expert panel and community conversation.

Moderated by Claire Farel, MD, MPH, medical director of the UNC Infectious Diseases Clinic, panelists Elizabeth Stringer, MD, associate professor, obstetrics and gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, and Anne Lyerly, MD, an obstetrician/gynecologist and bioethicist, and Helen Lazear, PhD, assistant professor of microbiology and immunology, discussed Zika virus, its transmission, its effects on fetuses and how to protect yourself against the virus.
