The UNC School of Medicine is among only 10 U.S. medical schools to receive five years of funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation to provide supplemental research funds for early career physician scientists who have a strong program of research and who are also facing extraordinary caregiving demands at home.

The Caregivers at Carolina program received 21 applications for this support, underscoring the need that exists to support UNC physician scientists facing extraprofessional caregiving demands.
