NC Children's NICU study featured on CBS North Carolina

UNC doctors have seen an increase in premature births at the NC Children's Hospital in recent years. UNC researchers are conducting a study to find out why.

The national rate of premature births has worsened for the first time in eight years, and at NC Children's Hospital's Newborn Critical Care Center the number of babies born 15 to 18 weeks early increased by 50 percent between 2013 and 2015. Watch this CBS North Carolina report about efforts at UNC to understand more about premature births in the state and what could be done to improve birth rates.
