UNC Graduate School Names Impact, Horizon Award Winners

Of the 22 awardees, 10 are in the UNC School of Medicine or in departments shared between the school and the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Each year, The UNC Graduate School honors students in graduate programs across campus, students who have already made discoveries that will contribute to a better future for people and communities in North Carolina. This year, there were 17 winners of the Impact Awards, which were made possible through the generous support of the Graduate Education Advancement Board. Five students earned Horizon Awards, which recognize discoveries with future potential to benefit North Carolina (and beyond).

Of the 22 awardees, six are in the UNC School of Medicine:

Ashley Bone, Microbiology and Immunology

Stephanie Cone, Biomedical Engineering

Gabrielle Grandchamp, Microbiology and Immunology

Brooke Matson, Cell Biology and Physiology

Nancy Quick, Allied Health Sciences

Katie Stember, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Four other students are in departments or areas that overlap with the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health
