Hu Earns NSF Early Career Award

Xiaogang Hu, PhD, in the UNC/NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, was selected to receive a National Science Foundation Early Career Award to enhance the quality of biomedical technology addressing neurological conditions.

Xiaogang Hu, PhD, PhD, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, earned a National Science Foundation Early Career Award for his project to decode the neurobiological commands sent from the brain that control our individual finger movements. This research has the potential to substantially enhance the quality of human-machine interactions for individuals with neurological injuries such as stroke.

The award is for $550,000 over five years and is considered one of the most prestigious grants for young faculty in the country.
