UNC receives $3.8 million grant to study “Med-South” weight loss program
Based on the proven benefits of Mediterranean-style diets, researchers have created a unique version of the diet by considering the taste and preferences of people living in the southeastern U.S. With this grant, the “Med-South” diet will be explored as an option for long-term weight loss and improved cardiovascular health. The study is co-led by Thomas Keyserling, MD, MPH, and Carmen Samuel-Hodge, PhD, RD.
