'Late Night with Roy' likely to affect Friday traffic
Late Night with Roy 2011 will be held on Friday, Oct. 14 at the Dean E. Smith Center. The event will begin with a Women's volleyball game at 5 p.m. and the basketball portion of the program will follow it. Please be aware that traffic to and from the hospitals and the School of Medicine may be heavy that evening.
One lane closed on Old Mason Farm Road
One lane of Old Mason Farm Road will be closed from the intersection of Fordham Blvd (15-501) east of the Ronald McDonald House between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. until Tuesday, Oct. 11.
UNC home football game Sept. 17
The third UNC home football game is Saturday, Sept. 17 at 3:30 p.m. Please plan appropriately as you travel to/from UNC Hospitals, as traffic will be heavy several hours before game time. Also, remember that certain parking lots are reserved for the seven UNC home football games.
Transit update regarding student move-in
Student move-in officially begins Wednesday, Aug. 17. This may cause traffic delays and will also effect both Craige Deck and S1 permit holders. Also note that South Road will be closed to through traffic from 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22.
CHT implements schedule changes as of Aug. 15
To improve the financial sustainability of the transit system, Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) implemented schedule changes that became effective Aug. 15. CHT makes changes to its schedules two times a year in response to ridership trends, changing traffic patterns, popular destinations and growth in the area.
Smart Commute Challenge Winners
UNC and UNC Hospitals won the Smart Commute Challenge in the category of organizations with 15,000 or more employees. Pledging to try (or continue to use) alternative transportation this year were 1,177 UNC Hospital and University staff, faculty and students.
West Drive closed for construction
Construction on the West Drive overhead pedestrian bridge from the Cardinal Deck to the Imaging Research Building (IRB) began Monday, Aug. 1.
Parking for Patients at Meadowmont
We are asking all visitors and students coming to Meadowmont, as well as Meadowmont employees, to park at least ten spaces away from the building to allow space for our patients to park.
2011-2012 CAP Registration
Registration for 2011-2012 is open for this year at the Department of Public Safety website.
Chapel Hill Transit August service adjustments
Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) has finalized its service adjustments that will take effect Aug. 15. The adjustments were developed in an effort to make the financing of the transit system more sustainable for the future and discussed with the public during a series of forums held earlier this month.
Raleigh Street closed to traffic as of Wednesday
The section of Raleigh Street between East Franklin Street and Cameron Avenue/Country Club Road will be closed to through traffic from Wednesday, June 22 through July 29.
Ridge Road restricted June 10 - 12 for NCAA Baseball
A portion of Ridge Road from Country Club Road by the Law School to Stadium Drive by Avery and Parker Residence Halls will be closed to through traffic from Friday, June 10 through Sunday, June 12 approximately three hours prior to the first game of each day.
Ridge Road restricted for NCAA Baseball Regional
UNC will host an NCAA baseball regional this weekend. Ridge Road will be restricted to through traffic at 9 a.m. each day Friday, June 3, through Sunday, June 5. If necessary, game 7 will be played on Monday, June 6 (and Ridge Road would close at 3 p.m.).
Chapel Hill Transit seeks public input for proposed service adjustments
Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will hold a series of public input sessions on its proposed service adjustments for fiscal year 2011-12. Note the June 7 session at 11 a.m. in the Cancer Hospital.

Chapel Hill Transit (CHT) will not operate on Monday, May 30, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.
Lane Closures on South Columbia Street
Lane closures on South Columbia Street began May 20 and will continue through mid-August, as crews close lanes to perform routine maintenance and prepare for the upcoming project to widen and improve South Columbia Street.

Permanent employees who would like to apply for on an on-campus permit may register between Monday, May 9, and Friday, May 27, via an online registration survey.
Lane closures on Manning Drive begin May 9
An eight-week construction project beginning Monday, May 9, will force the closure of two lanes of traffic on Manning Drive adjacent to the Craige Parking Deck. Through traffic will be maintained on Manning Drive, though motorists should expect some delays, particularly during rush hours, and should plan accordingly.
