UNC School of Medicine named Best Medical School for Primary Care
The School ranked 1st in Primary Care and 22nd in Research overall in the 2014 U.S. News & World Report Best Medical School Rankings. Family Medicine, Rural Medicine and AIDS were also listed as top ten specialties.
Call for nominations: 2011 Women’s Advocacy Award
The Carolina Women’s Center (CWC) announces its call for nominations for the 2011 Women’s Advocacy Awards. This award recognizes faculty, staff, postdoctoral scholars or students at the UNC-Chapel Hill who have made a substantial contribution to the climate for gender equity on campus as a result of their leadership in advocating for women. The deadline for nominations is March 4 at 5 p.m.

Hendricks Memorial Service to be Nov. 14
There will be a memorial service for Dr. Charles H. Hendricks on Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at the University United Methodist Church located at 150 East Franklin Street, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Study raises concern about ability of tests to predict fertility
The study found that the cutoffs used by such infertility tests, which measure levels of a molecule called follicle stimulating hormone or FSH, label many women as infertile who actually go on to have children naturally.

Carolina Women’s Center Faculty Scholar call for applications
The Carolina Women’s Center is accepting applications for its Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 Faculty Scholar. This program offers UNC-Chapel Hill faculty the opportunity to serve as a Faculty Scholar for the CWC for one semester. One Faculty Scholar will be chosen for each award semester.

Blog: Less restrictive guidelines issued on vaginal birth after c-section
Last week the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists released new guidelines that say, “Attempting a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) is a safe and appropriate choice for most women who have had a prior cesarean delivery, including for some women who have had two previous cesareans.”
