Updates to the Emergency Preparedness Web page

A number of innovative features are now integrated into UNC Health Care's Emergency Preparedness Web page, and more updates are coming soon.

The site is from the right side of the Intranet home page or directly at http://intranet.unchealthcare.org/hospitaldepartments/safetynet/programs/disaster.

New and updated features on the site

  • Emergency Operations Plan: Serves as an operational framework to guide the hospitals response during emergencies. This document replaces the old disaster manual.  This document is also available in a hard copy for the command center.
  • Incident Response Checklists: Guides to specific responses and are intended to be an aid for the staff in the command center. Currently only one has been uploaded, but many more will be added in the coming weeks. These will be available in hard copy as well.
  • Incident Action Plans: Lists of unique historical action plans that may prove to be useful for future events. Currently only one has been uploaded, but many more will be added in the coming weeks. These will be available in hard copy as well.
  • In-patient Status Report: An electronic status report that all in-patient units use to report their bed, staffing, and operational status to the command center.  The report is a modified survey that redirects all reports to special disaster email address in real time. Paper copies are also available in the event of a power failure.
  • Ancillary Status Report: An electronic status report that select ancillary units will use to report their staffing, resource, and operational status to the command center. The report is a modified survey that redirects all reports to special disaster email address in real time. Paper copies are also available in the event of a power failure.
  • Current Situation Report: Provides staff with an update regarding current emergency operations.
  • Web EOC Login: Serves as the portal to communicate with Orange County via their secure online incident management system.
  • MSDS Online: Provides a comprehensive list of Material Safety Data Sheets for hazardous material located and used within the hospital. The system can also be used to research possible contaminates on persons reporting to the Emergency Department.
  • Flash Alert: The Health Care System’s emergency notification system and can be used for house wide manager alerts, code pink alerts, Code Walker Alerts, and many other house wide alerts by utilizing phone, page, email, and fax messages.
