Boucher to receive award from American Thoracic Society

Richard Boucher, M.D., from the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, has been selected to receive the American Thoracic Society’s 2009 Distinguished Achievement Award.

The award is given for outstanding contributions to fighting respiratory disease through research, education, patient care or advocacy. Boucher, the William Rand Kenan Professor of Medicine, will be honored for his cystic fibrosis research, which has led to clinical therapies for cystic fibrosis and other pulmonary disorders.

Boucher will receive the award at the society’s international conference in May in San Diego.
