Some bands never get out of the garage. Some flame out when they run out of money to fix the van in the middle of Iowa. Others, mostly cover bands, exist like the token “Mexican” restaurant  in most small towns — poor replications of the real thing, but nobody knows the difference, so they persist.

Once in a while there’s a band that has a gimmick, like the one with Stephen King and Dave Barry, that creates some buzz. And less often one of those bands is good. N.E.D. is the latter. They have a label, they have a Facebook page and they have a purpose.

No Evidence of Disease is made up for gynecologic oncologists from across the U.S., include John Soper and John Boggess, the pioneer in robotic surgery for gynecologic cancer, from UNC Chapel Hill. They’re not only talented musicians, they write their own songs!
