Grand opening of the Office of International Activities (OIA)

The office will officially open on April 1 with a reception from 12 – 2 p.m. on the 2nd floor lobby/balcony in the MBRB Building.

The primary function of this office, located in 322A MacNider, will be the development of programmatic structure and support for UNC medical students interested in global health electives and guidance to medical student-led initiatives in global health formally supported by UNC.

The OIA will also work with student affairs to improve the experience of international students working at UNC and with residency directors to promote international experiences for residents.

In addition, the OIA will seek to foster collaboration and cooperation with broader initiatives in global health and education in the allied health sciences and across the UNC campus.

The office will be staffed by a Program Manager, and a global health resource area will be available for interested medical students to use. Our hope is that the OIA will become a hub for global health activities within the SOM.

Come visit and let’s see what we can do to work together in global ways!
