Winter Stories Program for Children & Book Drive

On Thursday, Dec. 10, UNC Friends of the Library presents the 17th annual Winter Stories program for children of all ages. Winter Stories will be the finale of the campus-wide book drive to benefit the Book Fairy, an organization that donates children's books to the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at UNC Hospitals.

The program will be held at 5 p.m. in Wilson Special Collections Library.

Storytellers Brian Sturm, associate professor at the UNC School of Information and Library Science, and students from the school, will recount tales representing every season from Germany, West Africa, England, and the Czech Republic. Library staff members and students will provide instrumental music and lead a sing-along.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a new or gently used children's book for the Book Fairy, an organization that donates children's books to the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at UNC Hospitals.

Patti Thorp, wife of UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp, is honorary chair of the Book Fairy book drive, which will wrap up with a presentation at Winter Stories. View Patti's video about the book drive here. Visit http://library.unc.edu/bookfairy.html to find campus drop-off locations.
