The study is designed to determine if diabetic patients exposed to insulin glargine have a higher incidence of cancer than diabetic patients exposed to other insulins or to other glucose-lowering medications.

Excellence Fund Seed Grant application available
The Excellence Fund provides Seed Grant Awards to UNC School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals to support innovative research projects which may lead to new treatments and cures for today's diseases. The application deadline is Jan. 28, 2010.
"What is Translational Research?" Workshops
The free workshop will provide a basic introduction to translational research and its role in improving community health. The training will discuss types of translational research, provide examples of real-world applications, and share ideas on how to become involved in translational research.

Each of the winners will receive a gift card. A second drawing will take place on Dec. 22, when an additional 20 winners will be picked.
