- On Tuesday, May 5, John F. Steege, M.D., performed a surgery at UNC Hospitals that was broadcast live to attendees at the 57th Annual Clinical Meeting of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Chicago.
- Toddlers with autism more likely to have enlarged amygdala, UNC study finds
- Toddlers with autism appear more likely to have an enlarged amygdala, a brain area associated with functions such as the processing of faces and emotion, a study by UNC School of Medicine researchers has found.

- A new UNC study published online in the journal Genome Research describes a new, more effective and less costly method for testing drugs for potential toxicity and one that could also result in more people benefiting from existing drugs.
