Adaora Adimora, MD, MPH, professor of medicine in the School of Medicine and clinical professor of epidemiology in the Gillings School of Global Public Health, has been selected by The Root magazine as one of the top 100 African-American leaders.

Chancellor Thorp invites nominations for the 2010 Oliver Max Gardner Award, presented each year by the UNC System Board of Governors to that member of the faculty of a constituent UNC institution "who, during the current scholastic year, has made the greatest contribution to the welfare of the human race." Nominations are due by Dec. 9, 2009.

Men’s basketball season to affect parking and transportation
On UNC men’s home basketball game days, please be prepared and allow extra time when traveling to/from UNC Hospitals. UNC’s next home game is Nov. 15 against Valparaiso at 4 p.m.
Flyover scheduled for Nov. 14 home football finale
UNC's home football finale is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14. Traffic will be heavy by noon on Saturday. Also, an F-18 flyover is planned just prior to the 3:30 kickoff. There will be four jets involved, and practice runs will be made on Friday, Nov. 13 between 2 - 3 p.m.
Book Drive to Benefit Pediatric Cancer Patients at UNC
Children undergoing cancer treatment will find comfort in new books thanks to a book drive on the UNC campus Nov. 9 – Dec. 10.
