2010 Faculty Development Program in Health Literacy and Aging Now Accepting Applications

This intensive program is sponsored by the Carolina Geriatric Education Center and the UNC Center for Aging and Health. The application deadline is Dec. 4.

This year’s cohort will include 12 selected clinician leaders with teaching, mentoring or educational program development responsibilities who work in health care, academic settings or in Area Health Education Centers. Past participants include faculty in medicine, nursing, dental hygiene, pharmacy, allied health, and medical education; faculty and program leaders from AHECs; health educators; and clinical practice improvement specialists.

The program requires a commitment of approximately 30 hours. Three sessions will be held in Chapel Hill and the remaining six sessions held through distance learning methods, including Web-based meetings. Please see the program schedule at the end of this invitation for course dates. Note that work outside of class is essential and that each participant will be matched with a mentor who is experienced in dealing with health literacy issues.
