Hear Well in a Noisy World
Monday, Nov. 16, 6:30 - 8 p.m.
Consumer Reports - Hear Well in a Noisy World - Hearing Aids, Hearing Protection and more, an audiologist's review of the literature. How is a consumer to know what to do or where to go when they or loved one needs hearing help?  Please join Dr. Barbara Winslow Warren as she dispels common myths and also points out readily seen advertisements for quick learning solutions.  Dr. Warren will outline guidelines for best practice, using the Task Force Guidelines for the Audiologic Management of Adult Patients as set forth by the American Academy of Audiology.

The Diabetic Athlete

Tony Cervati was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes over 32 years ago at age 8.  He founded the Type1Rider organization and is Co-Chair of the American Diabetes Association NC Tour de Cure 2005.  Tony has achieved numerous athletic accolades and will be on-hand to discuss and present the life of an active diabetic.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in America, affecting half a million new victims each year.  Join Captain Jan Stone and learn the following:

Diabetes: How to Avoid It and How to Treat It
Thursday, Nov. 19, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Diabetes now affects Americans in epidemic proportions. Dr. John Buse will discuss how to screen for it, how to prevent it if you don't have it but are at risk, and how to treat it if you already have it. This event is free.
