I am delighted to announce the appointment of Terry Magnuson, PhD, as the NC TraCS Institute Principal Investigator Extender (PI Extender) for Basic Science effective immediately.  In this role, he will serve as leader and advisor to me as Executive Dean of the School of Medicine and as a CTSA PI in all basic research activities, including strategic planning.  Dr. Magnuson will work with us to improve and expand opportunities, improve the availability and sustainability of resources, and to stimulate collaborative research.

Dr. Magnuson joins our existing three NC TraCS PI Extenders; Dr. John Buse, MD, PhD, Dr. Tim Carey, MD and Richard Boucher, MD.

In addition to his new role as a PI Extender of NC TraCS, he will remain Vice Dean for Research in the School of Medicine and continue his responsibilities as Chair of the Department of Genetics and Program Director, Cancer Genetics, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
