Personal Training Lecture Series: Metabolism
Tuesday, Nov. 23, 6:30 p.m.
Learn the basics of metabolism with Mary Petters, CPT, MS, MPH. What is metabolism? How does it work? What tends to affect it? And most of all, what are the mechanics of change?

Around the World Chef Series with Felix Roux
Thursday, Dec. 2, 6 - 8 p.m.
$10 for members, $15 for non-members
Join us for a healthy, ethnic cooking demonstration featuring Felix Roux, owner of Provence Restaurant in Carrboro. This program will highlight “Versatile Salmon.” Learn all the different quick, easy, and healthy ways to prepare salmon.

Moving Mindfully through the Life Stages

How do you keep the kids healthy during the holidays? This interactive cooking demonstration will teach you how to make healthy, creative snacks that you and your kids will love. Parents must accompany children. Pre-registration required.

Learn mindfulness and stress-reduction tips for navigating the holidays with grace and delight. Experience a difference this season as you sharpen your own inner awareness, recognizing where the joy lies, slowing down, breathing easier and choosing what really matters.

The Weigh to Wellness
Thursdays, Jan. 13 - April 7, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. OR Mondays, Jan. 24 - April 11, 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Members: $400 and Non-members: $600
The UNC Wellness Center is determined to help you achieve new heights of wellness through a goal oriented 12-week program of exercise, nutrition education, and lifestyle modification.

The program offers weekly classes covering nutrition, lifestyle modification, and exercise, followed by structured exercise with fitness instructors or group fitness instructors. Each week, you’ll check in with your “accountability coach.” With daily food journaling, you can stay on track with your goals.

Pre- and post-assessment will include waist and hip circumference measurements, height and weight, BMI, blood pressure, and resting metabolic rate test. Additional assessments are available.
