New Protein Expression & Purification Facilities in the Center for Structural Biology
The UNC Center for Structural Biology is pleased to announce the availability of protein expression & purification facilities.
The new facilities support the production of proteins in quantities and qualities suitable for the highest demands, such as: detailed biophysical and biochemical studies, structural studies (crystallization and X-ray crystallography, NMR spectroscopy), antibody and antigen generation, and manufacture of protein chips.
Our services are cost-effective and can be tailored to support extensive, new research directions or complement on-going laboratory efforts. In this initial phase, we currently provide the following services:
- protein expression using E. coli and baculovirus-mediated insect cell systems
- design and optimization of protein purification schemes using advanced chromatography systems
- guidance in biophysical characterization, including electrophoresis, light scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy, to ascertain protein structural integrity, monodispersity and functionality
In addition, we are dedicated to training investigators, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students and technical staff in expert use of the techniques and equipment available in our facilities. Please peruse our website at http://med.unc.edu/csb/PEP/ or contact us directly for further information.
