Wellness lecture: “PCOS: Polycystic ovary disease”

What is PCOS? Polycystic ovary disease is a known barrier for women who wish to get pregnant. Jennifer Mersereau, MD, will talk about the disease, treatments and fertility options for women who suffer from this disease.

Dr. Mersereau was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, attended college at Northwestern University, and received her MD from the University of Pittsburgh.  She completed a residency in OB/GYN and earned a masters degree in clinical investigation at Northwestern, and received fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California at San Francisco.  After completing her training, she joined the faculty at UNC in 2007.

Dr. Mersereau is Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Director of the Fertility Preservation Program at UNC. She is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She has published many peer-reviewed research articles in the field, and has received numerous awards for her research.

Dr. Mersereau has special interest and expertise in: infertility, in vitro fertilization (IVF), fertility preservation for patients with cancer, and hormone disorders.
