The public can view the original artworks used for the 2011 calendar and purchase their own copies at a kickoff event and signing Sept. 13 in the Cancer Hospital lobby.
Instead of
using paint, O’Neil creates each image using a myriad of fabric colors
and textures, all painstakingly sewn together to create distinctive,
charming scenes that have captured many of North Carolina’s iconic faces
and places.
Her artwork hangs in businesses, galleries, homes and public buildings across the state.
"I
am honored to work with UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center to
create this calendar to raise money for the N.C. Cancer Hospital, which
serves people from across our beautiful state. It has been a pleasure to
depict the richness of our landscapes and historic landmarks. This has
been an incredibly meaningful project for me and one I am very proud
of," said O’Neil.
Proceeds from the sale of the display-quality art calendars will benefit the N.C. Cancer Hospital.
A
limited number of calendars will also be available for purchase at
Frank, Womancraft, UNC Hospitals Gift Shops, Harrington Bank and A
Southern Season.
