Volunteering to Support Haiti

A one-time exception is being made to the Employee Ambassador Recognition Program to help support relief efforts in Haiti. Traditionally, volunteering must be done with a charity that is a 501c(3) and has a valid NC Solicitation License. However, we know that in light of the Haiti disaster, many employees are volunteering their time to charities that may not fill these requirements, and those efforts should be recognized.

An exception has been made to allow a donation of up to $250 to the American Red Cross’ relief efforts in Haiti on behalf of the employee who is volunteering their time through any charity to support the relief efforts.

Please keep in mind certain criteria must still be met:

  • Volunteering must still be with a non-profit organization.
  • The employee must be a registered Employee Ambassador by the time of the disbursement.
  • A minimum of 50 hours must be donated between June 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010. Checks will be disbursed in August 2010.
  • This only pertains to relief efforts for Haiti.
