Technique enables precise control of protein activity in living cells
In a paper published in the journal Nature Biotechnology, UNC's Klaus M. Hahn, PhD, describes a new technique called engineered allosteric regulation, which provides a new tool for scientists who study the interactions of proteins within living cells.
Making strides in HIV/AIDS research
In April, the UNC School of Medicine was recognized as having one of the top ten AIDS programs in the nation. The eighth place ranking this year marked the third time in a row the specialty has been ranked in the top ten by U.S. News and World Report as a part of their Best Medical Schools rankings.
Brice, Steiner named Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professors
Jane Brice, MD, MPH and Beat Steiner, MD, MPH have been selected as recipients of the Medical Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professorships effective Aug. 1, 2010.
Video: Family House Diaries - All things work together for good
After losing their jobs and life savings, husband and wife Scott and Dottie Boeving of Wingate, N.C. are now fighting for their health. Dottie suffers from a soft-bone disease which makes mobility difficult, and Scott was diagnosed in 2009 with Stage IV non-Hodgkin's mantle cell lymphoma. Despite everything being taken away from them, Scott and Dottie are a model of faith, joy, and hope.

UNC Hospitals' 5 Anderson unit joining Center for Heart & Vascular Care
Starting July 1, 5 Anderson will officially join the Center for Heart and Vascular Care. The 15-bed unit primarily houses vascular patients and this transfer will further our collaborative care model.
Internal customer service survey for OT/PT
The OT/PT Department is conducting an internal customer survey and would like feedback regarding their services. If employees (including physicians, nurse managers, nurses, PAs, NPs, etc.) who are internal customers to the OT/PT Department could please take a moment to fill out a quick, 13-question survey, it would be greatly appreciated.
