UNC Hospitals has been ranked in four specialties in U.S. News & World Report's 2010-11 Best Hospitals. This is the 18th year in a row that UNC Hospitals has been included in multiple specialties.
Crais receives Distinguished Alumnus Award from Vanderbilt University
Vanderbilt University’s Department of Hearing & Speech Sciences presented Professor Elizabeth Crais, PhD, Professor in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences, with Judith S. Gravel Distinguished Alumnus Award at a ceremony in May.
UNC Lineberger scientists identify molecular predictor of prognosis for pancreatic cancer patients
Their study is the first to demonstrate that molecular differences in metastatic pancreatic cancer can be identified at earlier stages and that these differences are predictive of future disease behavior.

According to a study performed in the N.C. Children’s Hospital, researchers confirmed previous reports that parents of overweight or obese children do not recognize their child’s weight problem. But this time, by arming pediatricians with a “toolkit,” including an easily used chart and a series of questions and suggestions, the researchers addressed several problems.
