UNC Hospitals recognized for community value

UNC Hospitals has been recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals for community value in America by Cleverley + Associates as part of its "Community Value Leadership Awards." UNC Hospitals is one of five North Carolina hospitals to make this list.

“We depend on our colleagues to deliver the best care in the most efficient way,” said Gary L. Park, UNC Hospitals’ President. “I want to thank everyone here for their hard work and dedication that helps us to earn these accolades.”

Cleverley ranks the top 100 hospitals each year based on its Community Value Index (CVI), which considers financial viability and plant reinvestment; hospital cost structure; hospital charge structure; and hospital quality performance.

UNC Hospitals also earned recognition as one of Cleverley’s “Community Value Five-Star Hospitals” for 2010 for placing in the top 20 percent of all hospitals nationwide based on the CVI.

“Our focus on patient safety and quality care remains strong. Also, in the past several years we have worked very hard to ensure that North Carolina’s citizens have access to our care, regardless of their ability to pay,” Park said. “I’m happy to see that Cleverley + Associates recognizes that work and the value we provide to the community as a public academic medical center.”
