Severe Acute Pancreatitis Consultation Service Established at UNC
The Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery, in conjunction with the Divisions of Gastroenterology and Interventional Radiology, as well as the Medical Intensive Care Service, have established this consultation service with the goal of expediting and directing care for patients with acute pancreatitis and the complications that may develop from it.

Daniels promoted to Associate Dean, Pharmacy Clinical Practice
Rowell Daniels, PharmD, MS, has been named associate dean, pharmacy clinical practice at Chapel Hill for the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Daniels is also director of pharmacy at UNC Hospitals and Clinics, a position he has held since 2007.
Call for poster presentations - 2011 Aging Exchange
The 7th annual Aging Exchange will be held on Thursday, April 7 from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Friday Center. The exchange is an event dedicated to recognizing and promoting research in the field of aging at UNC. This is a great opportunity to showcase your research or your students' research in any area of aging.
Sole Sisters 11th Exercise Program for Women Recruiting 2011 Participants
Interested in starting a regular exercise program and supporting a good cause? Nearly 1,000 women have improved their overall fitness during the 10-year Sole Sisters program and provided close to $50,000 for Susan G. Komen N.C. Triangle affiliate programs.
Reminder: 2011 Wachovia Tar Heel 10-miler to benefit UNC Lineberger, UNC Cancer Care
Calling all runners! Sign up for the 2011 Wachovia Tar Heel 10-miler that will be held this year on April 9. The event is expected to sell out – come out and run 10-miler, the Fleet Feet 4-miler, volunteer for the race or cheer on the participants as they run through some of the most scenic routes in Chapel Hill.

Manning Drive Weekend Closures
In order to complete the work on the new bridge at the Dental Science Building, concrete must be poured and precast panels installed. The work is going to be performed over 14 weekends, and will require Manning Drive to be closed between South Columbia and West Drive from 8 p.m. each Friday to 8 p.m. each Sunday.

Mr. Bob Eaves, First Gentleman of North Carolina, visited the N.C. Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Hospitals yesterday (Feb. 23) to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Burn Center, which opened Feb. 23, 1981.
Ruben Gonzalez-Crespo selected to receive 2011 C. Knox Massey Distinguished Service Awards
Gonzalez-Crespo has been praised for bringing comfort, care and compassion to the Hispanic community through his work as a Spanish interpreter in UNC Lineberger and the N.C. Cancer Hospital.

Windows Updates - Brief disruption to service
Thursday, Feb. 24, at 5 p.m. OIS will reboot the School of Medicine servers to apply Microsoft security patches. Each server will be down for a few minutes during the reboot to apply the patches.
