New Fellowship Program in Psychosomatic Medicine Opens at UNC School of Medicine
A new fellowship training program in psychosomatic medicine is beginning at UNC, a partnership of the UNC School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry and the UNC Comprehensive Cancer Support Program, part of UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Adimora appointed to NIAID Advisory Council
Adaora Adimora, MD, MPH, professor of medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at UNC, has been appointed to the Advisory Council of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Kiser named chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery
Andy C. Kiser, M.D., has been named chief of the UNC Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, effective July 1, 2011. Dr. Kiser is a cardiothoracic surgeon who joined UNC as professor of surgery on Nov. 1, 2010. He is recognized as an international leader in arrhythmia surgery, having pioneered the paracardioscopic procedures to treat atrial fibrillation.

New TEACCH Director Appointed
Laura Grofer Klinger, PhD, a leading autism researcher, will be appointed Director of the Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication related handicapped Children (TEACCH) program in the UNC School of Medicine effective September 1, 2011. She will also serve as Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine.

Enarson appointed Vice Dean for Finance and Administration
Cam Enarson, MD, MBA, has been appointed as Vice Dean for Finance and Administration in the UNC School of Medicine. In this role, he will lead the School of Medicine’s Offices of Finance & Business Operations, Human Resources, Facilities and Resource Planning and Information Systems. He also holds an appointment as Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology.
