MALDI-Imaging Mass-spectrometry (IMS) is a novel technique at the fore-front of imaging-based scientific research. This technique allows the acquisition of “Molecular” images for any tissue based on the distribution of proteins, lipids or small molecules. With extensive application to basic and clinical research, IMS is becoming a powerful tool for diagnosis and for biomarker discovery.
