Lin appointed director of the Biomedical Research Imaging Center

The Dean’s Office is pleased to announce the appointment of Weili Lin, PhD to the position of Director of the Biomedical Research Imaging Center (BRIC). Dr. Lin has been associated with the BRIC since its establishment in 2004 under the direction of Etta Pisano, MD.

Dr. Lin joined UNC-Chapel Hill in 1999 as an Associate Professor in Radiology, becoming a full Professor in 2004.  He also has faculty appointments in Radiology, Neurology, Pharmacology and Biomedical Engineering.  In 2007 he became the Associate Director of the BRIC and took over as Interim Director in July 2010 upon the departure of Dr. Pisano.  

Dr. Lin’s research focuses on several major areas, including the development of novel MR imaging methods to reveal brain tissue viability in ischemic stroke patients, the understanding of brain functional and structural development during the first years of life, and the development of multi-modal imaging methods for nanotechnology and cancer applications.
