Children’s operating rooms get a facelift at UNC Hospitals
UNC Hospitals performs 5,000 general pediatric surgeries every year. Recently, the hospital has redesigned its pediatric operating rooms to help make children less anxious before the operations. The new rooms were dedicated on May 6.

Students, faculty honored at School of Medicine commencement
On Saturday, May 7, the School of Medicine commencement ceremony took place at Memorial Hall. This year, UNC produced 154 new doctors of medicine. The class of 2011 chose Anthony Charles, MD, as commencement speaker. Read on for details about the class and the awards presented.

Zolnoun named 6th Annual SWHR Medtronic Prize winner
The 6th annual Society for Women’s Health Research Medtronic Prize for Scientific Contributions to Women’s Health was presented to Dr. Denniz Zolnoun, MD, MPH, Associate Professor in the Department of OB/GYN at the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) Annual Gala Dinner earlier this month.
