Reminder: Faculty members invited to "Coffee with the Dean" events

Dr. Roper will meet with faculty on Feb. 2 to discuss clinical topics, and Feb. 9 to discuss research topics. Please read on for more information and to RSVP.

The following message was sent to faculty members several weeks ago.

Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year. One of my goals for 2012 is to improve communication within the School of Medicine and Health Care System.

As a faculty, we meet now just once a year in the fall, and we convene for the annual Berryhill lecture then as well. I attend faculty meetings with all of the departments and divisions of the larger departments, which brings me around to each department about once a year. On a weekly basis, Vital Signs, the e-newsletter sent to all SOM faculty and staff, contains important information and is organized in a way that hopefully allows you to quickly find information that is relevant to you. It is one way we recognize and celebrate our colleagues achievements in “real time,” so to speak.

Along with these efforts, I would like to have more opportunities for conversations with you. To do so, I have scheduled several “Coffee with the Dean” events in January and February. These are intended to be informal, to hear your concerns, and to answer your questions as best as I can. If these events are successful, I’d like to continue them throughout the year.

The first three events are divided by topics, so the discussion will be relevant to everyone in attendance. I hope you can join us on one of the following dates:

Coffee with the Dean:  Education Topics
Jan. 24, 9 – 10 a.m.
2030 Bondurant Hall

Coffee with the Dean:  Clinical Topics
Feb. 2, 9 – 10 a.m.
2030 Bondurant Hall

Coffee with the Dean:  Research Topics
Feb. 9, 9 – 10 a.m.

Thank you for your dedication to our school.

Sincerely,

Bill Roper
