Triangle Business Journal names Cohen, Zanation, Sharpless "Health Care Heroes"

Dr. Myron Cohen won the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Norman Sharpless, the Innovator/Researcher award, and Dr. Adam Zanation the "Rising Star" award.

Dr. Myron Cohen – Lifetime Achievement

Dr. Myron Cohen is Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Health; J. Herbert Bate Distinguished Professor of Medicine, and Professor of Microbiology and Immunology; Public Health Director, Institute for Global Health and Infectious Diseases; Chief, Division of Infectious Diseases; and Director, Center for Infectious Diseases.

Dr. Cohen led the HPTN study that was named the 2011 "Breakthrough of the Year" by the journal Science.

Dr. Norman Sharpless – Innovator/Researcher

Dr. Sharpless is Professor of Medicine and Genetics, as well as a member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. He focuses on translational research and founded a company called G-Zero Therapeutics to facilitate moving new technology into patient care.

Dr. Adam Zanation – Rising Star

Dr. Zanation is Assistant Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. He also co-directs the Head and Neck Oncology fellowship program and the Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery fellowship program. Dr. Zanation graduated from the UNC School of Medicine and completed his residency here. He completed a fellowships at the University of Pittsburgh.
