Required COI Training for All Researchers Now Available On-line

The on-line conflict of interest (COI) training is now available at the website: https://apps.research.unc.edu/coi-training/ or by typing “coi-training.unc.edu” into the web address bar.

As part of the preparation for achieving compliance with the new federal regulations effective August 24th, we are making this training available now. A formal notice email was distributed to the campus in early July.

Upon consultation with the Provost and the Vice Chancellor for Research, the Chancellor has determined the COI training should be completed by all individuals who are involved in research. Individuals can include faculty, staff, students or trainees. Generally, completion of this training will be valid for four years and will be reflected, no later than August 24th, in the RAMSeS and IRBIS systems.

In particular, those individuals who receive funding from the Public Health Service (PHS) through the NIH, CDC, AHRQ, FDA, HRSA or others will receive additional email training reminders to complete their training no later than August 24th.

For further information, please visit the Research Compliance Program website which has a page discussing the new federal regulations and anticipated changes at UNC-Chapel Hill. The page is accessible at http://research.unc.edu/offices/research-compliance-program/index.htm. A summary of some major changes with the anticipated policy modifications are outlined along with a comparison of current regulations. It is anticipated that the new UNC-Chapel Hill policy will be distributed in mid-August.

Please continue to check the website as it will be updated with information and frequently asked questions (FAQs) that are received from members of the campus community.
