Heatwole Shank on WUNC’s “The State of Things”

Kendra Heatwole Shank, a PhD candidate in the Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at the School of Medicine, interviewed with Frank Stasio of WUNC’s “State of Things” to talk about a project she designed to better understand livability issues facing older Americans.

In her project, Heatwole Shank looked at the relationship between the physical features of a community and the daily activities of people 'aging-in-place'. Her research included interviews with several different people, observations of their chosen activities, and GPS mapping of their day-to-day movements.
